CHAPTER EIGHT NLCC Uniforms Section 1: Navy League Cadet Uniforms 0810 - General 0810.1 The Sea Cadet Committee Chairman and unit CO will establish a unit uniform according to the guidelines provided below. Section 2: Uniform Guidelines 0820 - General 0820.1 The unit uniform consists of selected combinations of the uniform articles listed below, consistent with the availability of uniform items and climatic conditions. Male and female uniforms must conform to similar patterns: if the prescribed male uniform consists of black trousers with white shirts, the female uniform should be black skirts (slacks) with white blouse. 0821 - Uniform Article Categories 0821.1 The two categories of uniform articles are Official Pattern articles. Official Pattern articles are the accessories and insignia, which are standard throughout the Corps. Units procure these items by using the NSCC Insignia Purchase Order Form. Approved Pattern articles are uniform items, described in general terms, provided either by the individual cadet or the sponsoring organization. Units should utilize NSCC supply facilities in obtaining Approved Pattern articles. The Commanding Officer of the NLCC unit has the option to prescribe the uniform for the unit, and shall insure that all cadets are in the same appropriate type uniform. Cadets attending NLCC multi-unit functions shall wear the uniforms prescribed by their parent NLCC unit. Commanding Officers of the multi-unit functions are not authorized to prescribe special uniforms to cadets desiring to attend the functions). 0821.2 Official Pattern articles include: Navy League Cadet Flash (worn on the left shoulder only) NLCC Chevrons / NLCC PO Badges Hat Device (female cadet only) Combination Cover Garrison Cap SLPO Gold Star (obtained only from Navy uniform shops) 0821.3 The following is the NLCC standard uniform as prescribed by the Board of Directors and National Headquarters (NHQ). Note: (F) denotes female and (M) denotes male. Dress Uniform Long- or short-sleeve white shirt (M) or blouse (F), with appropriate NLCC shoulder flash and rate insignia (optional black in winter). Straight-leg trousers without cuff (M) Black skirt or slacks (F) Navy white hat (M); black garrison cap (F) Black/Dark blue sweater* Black socks (female cadets in skirts wear flesh-toned hose) Black Leather shoes, well shined Black raincoat (without insignia) * May be worn with uniform in cold weather Work Uniform Dungaree shirt (light blue chambray, or similar material), with appropriate NLCC shoulder flash and rate insignia. Dungaree trousers (or similar "jeans" material). NLCC cadets can wear jeans (plain blue only) as part of their work uniform if they cannot find Navy dungaree trousers to fit them. Utility jacket Blue ball cap with NLCC Flash (M & F) Black socks* Black leather shoes* * When engaged in athletics, or working around boats, cadets will wear white socks with nonskid athletic shoes. Optional uniform The Navy jumper uniform (white [M & F] or black [M only]) which must be tailored to fit smaller sizes. Summer whites (M/F) must be tailored to fit smaller sizes. Note: Uniformity within the unit is paramount. The shirts, trousers and skirts are available at most department stores as a reasonable cost. (Small-size white shirts and utility jackets are available through NHQ). |
