Subj: Program Goals - 1998

Encl: (1) Program Goals Outline

The Cadet Corps programs continued to attain record highs in both enrollment and in the number of cadets participating in summer training. Our "GOAL" is to build on the momentum we have developed, and to continue program growth through excellence in all phases of our training. Program Goals - 1998 serve this purpose, providing a focus for our efforts, as well as a yardstick by which we may measure our success.

Our enrollment (registered) goals for 1998 are 9,400 by 30 June and 9,800 by 31 December. Our training goal is the participation of 6,200 cadets and officers in scheduled training evolutions. These goals represent a challenge, but are well within our ability to meet. The key to success, as it was in 1997, will be the ability of planners to cope with diminishing availability of Navy training resources/facilities. and the initiative of field representatives and regional directors in arranging for, and conducting, training for units under their cognizance. We met this challenge in 1997 - and will meet it in 1998!.
