NSCC INFORMATION LETTER 02-09

From:

Subj:

New NSCC Identification Card

Purpose. To announce the issuing of a newly formatted NSCC Identification Card (ID).

Background. The current ID card has been the center of many complaints over the years. The complaint “it doesn’t look real” by installation security is most often heard. To produce a Non-Military Geneva Convention ID Card is cost prohibitive at this time, although the new ID card will be a step in that direction. The new card will be produced using a business card format.

Discussion. The new ID card will eliminate the need for NSCC and NLCC ID cards. The card will be marked clearly NSCC or NLCC. The existing information will remain the same except for the social security number (SSN). The SSN will only show the last 4 digits.

Action. The new ID card will be issued beginning in January upon receipt of “new” enrollments and “renewals”. NHQ does not have the staff to issue en masse the new card to all currently enrolled personnel, so don’t ask. Upon receipt of the new card the unit will follow existing procedures: attach a photo; sign the card; laminate the card; make a copy and place in the Service Jacket. NOTE: Unit’s should contact the Security Office if drilling on a military facility to inform and provide them a copy of the new card.

Cancellation. This letter is considered cancelled when “all” personnel are in receipt of the new ID card.
