2006 NSCC COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Ref: (s) NSCC Regulations, Chapter 16

1. Purpose. To announce NSCC 2006 college scholarship opportunities and advise all commands of the Scholarship Application Forms.

2. Background. Reference (a) contains information on the annual college scholarships offered by the Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Criteria for submission are outlined in NSCC Regulations and shall be adhered to for those submitting applications.

3. Discussion. The NSCC Board of Directors has approved another series of college scholarship opportunities for Sea Cadets during 2006. All cadets shall use NSCC Scholarship Application Form NSCADM 014 (available on the web site) when applying for NSCC scholarships. If an individual has applied for a NLUS scholarship, the NSCC College Scholarship Selection Board will accept a copy of the applicant’s NLUS application, but this copy must be sent in to NHQ. NSCC applications are due by 20 May 2006 at NHQ. The scholarships approved are as follows:

  • One (1) Helen & Morgan Fitch Scholarship of $ 5,000. Last year’s recipient will also have a renewal of her scholarship ($5,000) if she has met academic standards required for renewal.
  • One (1) NSCC General Scholarships of $2,000.
  • One (1) NSCC Board of Directors Scholarship provided by Mr. Nicholas Ricco given in the name of his wife Anna for minimum of $1500.
  • One (1) Robert & Helen Scharf Hutton Scholarship of $1,000.
  • One (1) Stockholm Scholar for $2,500. This is the third year (renewal) for this award.
  • Three (3) Harry Lee & Rose Howell Scholarship as follows;
    • Two (2) Howell Scholarships of $2,500 each.
    • One (1) Howell scholarship of $2,000.
  • One (1) San Diego and Gas & Electric Scholarship of $1,000.

Commanding Officers are requested to give this information letter widest possible distribution and encourage interested and eligible cadets to apply.

4. Cancellation. This information letter is cancelled 1 July 2006.
