1. This is Change Three to the 2000 NSCC/NLCC summer training plan promulgated ref (a). This change is a pen and ink change and is to be applied to Change Two of 24 April, which was a complete reprint of the summer training schedule. Notes and reference information for this summer's training contained in the original schedule, ref (a), and in changes one and two, refs (b) and (c) still apply. Highlights of this change include:

  1. Pen and ink changes to the 2000 NSCC/NLCC Summer Training Schedule. These pen and ink changes are to be applied to the Change Two re-write promulgated as ref (c). Pen and ink changes are at paragraph 2 of this letter.

    - Code RT-AZ at FT. HUACHUCA: change dates to 07/23/00 to 08/05/00.

3. Additional general notes.

  1. Please, remember and remind everyone it is the responsibility of the parent and the unit to ensure all arrangements have been made to get cadets to the training site. It is not the COTC responsibility to arrange shuttles, van service, etc. to and from local airports distant from training sites. Some COTC's have done this and they are to be applauded. While they have gone above and beyond, you must understand, it is still not their responsibility. So, remember where the responsibility lies and plan accordingly. This deserves re-emphasis.

  2. REMEMBER ABOUT ID CARDS! Your ID card must be current through the last day of training. Orders will not be issued unless our database shows your ID card expiration date to be after the last day of training. It's an insurance requirement. Right now we a have a stack of about 50 requests from cadets whose ID cards show expiration dates before training end dates. Second and third notices have been sent to unit CO's. We will not cut orders unless your ID card is current through end of training. So.... check your ID card!

  3. NLCC Orientation training in Florida over summer 2000. While it is not now included in the summer training schedule, we are still hopeful that it will be offered in the Jacksonville area, and it is tentatively planned for late July, early August. Once firm, details will be promulgated. LCDR Bosland is the point of contact

  4. Shipboard opportunity onboard USS ENTERPRISE advertised local the Norfolk area and via e-mail, all quotas are taken. COTC is LT. Doug Carter at (606) 222-1418.

  5. NON REFUNDABLE AIRLINE FARES. Unit COs brief your cadets and parents on this, once again, please! Non-refundable airline fares are just that! And that includes payment of penalties by NHQ. We strongly encourage everyone to consider carefully the purchase of non-refundable tickets. By far, most of the time, most of the summer training evolutions occur as scheduled in the summer training schedule. But please understand that they are dependent upon escort availability and host site accommodations. If escorts become unavailable due to emergency (and we can't find a replacement), or operational-commitments suddenly preclude our being able to use host site facilities, training can be cancelled at the last minute. Changes to non-refundable airline tickets incur a penalty that averages about $75.00. NSCC National Headquarters cannot reimburse for these penalties, regardless of reason.
