NSCC INFORMATION LETTER 4-00
1. During the summer of 2000 there will be many opportunities for qualified Sea Cadets to participate in various foreign exchange programs. The following is a list of the exchange programs for 2000. Exchange opportunities with Australia, Bermuda, United Kingdom aboard HMS Bristol, and Korea, have already been promulgated via internet posting and by NHQ letters to all units. Details regarding these exchange opportunities are again included in this NHQ information letter. Summary information is as provided below. Detailed information is as contained in the enclosures. Submit applications based on information in this letter. Use training codes as indicated below. BE CRYSTAL CLEAR IN WHAT YOU APPLY FOR and follow directions in the enclosures. Updates will be via changes to this information letter, changes will also be posted on the Internet at the Sea Cadets Resources Web Site and announced on the 1 MC.
* Dates and details pending ** This exchange has been sponsored for 2 years in the past with all expenses paid for by the Navy Memorial Foundation. Status for 2000 is undetermined. If approved again for this year, dates and details will be announced in update changes to this letter or by separate correspondence to units. It will also be posted on the Sea Cadets Resources Web Site and announced on the 1 MC. 2. Application procedures are as per the enclosures. Where applications are greater than the number of allowed quotas, selections will be made by NHQ in concert with COTC recommendations and desires. Cadets desiring to apply for more than one program must state their first and second choices. Generally, only one program per cadet will be entertained. Cadets should not purchase airline tickets until notified of selection by NHQ. In all cases stay away from non-refundable tickets! NHQ cannot reimburse for cancellations, regardless of reason. PLEASE NOTE: For all exchanges, preference will generally be given to those qualified cadets who first apply until quotas are gone. This first come, first served practice is being employed to allow early flight arrangements at best prices. For all cadets selected or approved for Foreign Exchange program participation, additional guidance and/or information will be as provided either by NHQ with orders or by the Senior Escort Officer (SEO)/COTC for the evolution. 4. No Sea Cadet exchange will take place unless escort requirements are met. Amplifying information will be as provided by Senior Escort Officers (SEO)/COTC, or as published in updates to this information letter.
