 16 November 1999 NSCC INFORMATION LETTER 14-99
1. Purpose. To advise members of the Sea Cadet Program of information concerning the NSCC 1MC Listserv and the Sea Cadet Muster Listserv. 2. Background. The NSCC Web Site Development Group controls the NSCC 1MC Listserv. The Sea Cadet Muster Listserv is controlled and moderated by LCDR Joseph Land, NSCC. 3. Discussion. The Sea Cadet Muster has become and is viewed by NHQ as a "free-wheeling chat-room" that on occasion does not serve the best interests of the Naval Sea Cadet Program. Erroneous information is often found on this media. ALL readers and subscribers to the "Sea Cadet Muster" need to understand any and all information found therein is NOT sanctioned by NHQ and is NOT a substitute for the chain of command. NSCC headquarters does not respond to the postings on the "Muster". A lack of response does not mean we concur. NSCC headquarters sanctions the NSCC 1MC Listserv. Postings to this form of media are done through the NSCC Web Site Development Group or NSCC headquarters. Readers do not have the ability to respond directly to the 1MC Listserv. Inquiries concerning information viewed should be routed through the chain of command and NOT posted to the "Sea Cadet Muster". Readers will receive official responses by NHQ and/or NHQ delegates. 4. Cancellation. Please ensure this letter receives the widest dissemination within your regions and units. This information letter is cancelled 31 December 1999.
