1. 1999 NSCC/NLCC General Training Grants. Refs (a) and (b) announce 1999 summer training opportunities for all hands. In support of these summer training opportunities we anticipate a limited amount of money available for award as summer training grants for deserving cadets who would not otherwise be able to participate in this training. Approximately 40 NSCC/NLCC general training grants of $50.00 each and another 10 grants of $100.00 each may be awarded in 1999. Guidelines for the NSCC/NLCC general training grants are as follow:

  • Unit CO's are to send letter requests to reach NHQ not later than 1 May. Fax and E-mail requests also welcome. All requests should be sent attention: Capt Nyland.

  • Identify by name and rank, cadets for whom training grants are requested. For each cadet provide brief justification. If for more than 1 cadet, list cadets and justification in priority order, most deserving first.

  • Limit justification to not more than 3 or 4 lines oftext. Succinctly support cadet need and merit.

  • Grant monies awarded will be sent to Unit CO's in early May.

2. In addition to the above NSCC/NLCC general training grants, the following specific training grants will also be available in support of 1999 summer training.

  • 1999 LCDR GEORGE DIMOCK Training Grant. Unique for 1999, these training grants are available as a result of the generosity of LCDR George Dimock, Regional Director for Region 1-2. Details are as follow:

    • Five (5) training grants of $100.00 each are available based on need and merit.

    • Guidelines are the same as for the general training grants listed above, except due to NHQ not later than 1 June and limited to cadets who live and drill in New England. Grant monies will be sent in early June.

    • Request must be identified as a 1999 LCDR George Dimock Training Grant request.

  • 1999 F. HUYLER WHITE MEMORIAL Training Grant. These training grants are annually awarded to deserving cadets living and drilling in New Jersey. Details are as follow:

    • Ten (10) training grants of$100.00 each are available based on need and merit.

    • The only criteria for the award is that cadets live and drill in New Jersey and are in need of financial assistance for summer training.

    • Nominations are to be sent by Unit CO's to Regional Director, Liberty Region (East) 4-3, CDR Jesse Ridgeway Jr. who will coordinate selections based on need and merit. CDR Ridgeway will forward selections to NHQ and NHQ will return training grant checks to units for selected cadets.

  • 1999 RICHARD GUTHRIE MEMORIAL Training Grant. This training grant is annually awarded to 2 deserving cadets from the Sacramento area drilling with the Gold Country Division. The grant is $50.00 to each cadet.
