NSCC INFORMATION LETTER 4-99/5-99 (ADDENDUM ONE)

Ref: (a) Information Letter 4-99 and 5-99

1. This is For All Hands Dissemination. Ref (a), NSCC Information Letters 4-99 and 5-99 promulgated foreign exchange opportunities and the summer training schedule respectively. Change and update information will be promulgated via formal changes, the first of which is expected the first week in April.

  • This letter is an advance promulgation of changes or additional information received to date. Some are time sensitive, others critical to your planning. These changes will be formally promulgated again and/or further updated in Change 1 to the NSCC Information Letters.

2. The Summer Training Schedule, encl (3) to Information Letter 5-99.

  • AN-FL Basic Airman at Jacksonville. Cadets need to submit 22's to the COTC per directions before 15 April (best), but definitely before 1 May so that they can be manifested for the orientation flight. Manifest is being submitted very early May and cadet names not on the manifest will not fly. Cadets can apply for this training until quotas are full but cadets applying after these dates won't fly.
  • The SEAL test. For those applying, the run is one and one half miles. Page 2 to TAB C to encl (1) of Information Letter 5-99 may be confusing. It is one and one half miles.
  • Aviation Ground Program, all schools. Each class has a requirement for three adult escorts. Interested adults are to call Judge Colby directly. If you always wanted to learn to fly, this is the place to get your basics.
  • NT-WA, NLCC Orientation at Everett. Dates will be 11-16 July vice 11-17 July.
  • RT-WA, NSCC Recruit training at Ft Lewis, 15-28 August. Send 22's with full payment to LCDR J. Williams, 15309 SR 9 SE, Snohomish, WA 98296-8767. Army requires full payment up front; this change streamlines money handling process. LCDR Yocum remains COTC.
  • NT-CO NLCC Orientation at the Air Force Academy. It will be at the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, 26 June-3 July, send 22's with $50.00 deposit to LCDR Dan Van Arsdall, 3408 W 4th St. Road, Greeley, CO 80631-2521.
  • AN-NJ Basic Airman at Lakehurst. The length of training should read 13 days vice 7.
  • SD-FL Scuba at Key West. The dates will be 11-23 July, need a female escort.
  • AN-C1 and AV-C1 Basic and Advanced Airman at Lemoore. Phone numbers should read (559) 439-0715 for both.
  • MD-CA Medical at Balboa. Dates are 20 June-2 July and not 18-31 July. And LT Jones' phone number should read (619) 263-7435.
  • LC-IL POLA at SSC Great Lakes. Dates will be 1-7 August.
  • NT-FL NLCC Orientation at McDill and RT-GA Recruit training at Ft Stewart. All cadets will need three sets of dungarees.
  • ND-TX NLCC Advanced and NT-TX NLCC Orientation. Cost will be $85.00.
  • AO-VA Amphibious Operations Norfolk. Must be E-3 and must be able to pass NSCC PRT. Daily PRT is part of the program. Dates still pending.
  • For SS-GA, NT-FL, RT-GA, SB-GA, & SS-GA, All trainings for whom LCDR Phil Bosland is COTC. Please submit 22's and deposit (full amount for recruit training) not later than 1 June.
  • LS-WA Mountain Survival. This training will be with the Marines at their cold weather survival camp at Marine Corps Base, Bridgeport CA. Dates are 25 - 31 July. Quota is 3 male and 2 female cadets. Cost is $100.00. 22's, SEAL PRT form, and $100.00 to NHQ by 1 June. Will have to bring own sleeping bag, canteen, web belt, cammies and boots. Selected cadets will be provided with amplifying information by USMC.

3. Foreign Exchange Programs, Information Letter 4-99.

  • Encl (2) UK with LCDR Farrow. Correct fax number is: (561) 394-3713.
  • Encl (4) UK Exchange aboard Bristol. SEO selection will be made 15 April. Still soliciting candidates for SEO.
  • Encl (5) Netherlands. Still need a SEO, please call NHQ Capt Nyland if interested.
  • Encl (12) Hong Kong. We have interested Cadets but are in need of a SEO. If interested please call Capt Nyland.
  • Encl (13) Belgium. Dates are depart CONUS 8 July, return from Brussels 25 July. 10 and 11 July with host families, 12 July at SHAPE and sight seeing MONS, 13 July at SHAPE and sight seeing a chateau, 14 &15 sightseeing Waterloo and 2 castles, 16 possible trip to Zeebrugge, 17&18 weekend with Belgium Sea Cadets, 19&20 NATO visit and sight seeing Brussels, 21 Eupen and Belgian National Day, WWII cemetery, Bastagone, Battle of the Bulge Memorial, Luxenburg, 22&23 still open, 24 SACEUR, SHAPE, graduation ceremonies and farewell picnic. Cost will be somewhere around $300.00 excluding to and from transportation. NSCC LCDR's Ann and Hans Greene (he's active duty Navy stationed in Belgium) will greet arriving cadets and escort for this exchange. Need a stateside adult to assist in administrative preparation and to also go on this exchange. Call Capt Nyland.
