Subj: 1999 NSCC/NLCC SUMMER TRAINING

Ref: (a) NSCC/NLCC Advancement and Training Manual
(b) NSCC/NLCC Escort Officer Handbook

Encl: (1) 1999 NSCC/NLCC General Training Guidelines
(2) 1999 Coast Guard Training Opportunities
(3) NLCC/NSCC 1999 Summer Training Schedule

1. This is the NSCC information letter announcing 1999 NSCC/NLCC summer training opportunities, promulgated per ref (a). Submit applications for summer training in accordance with the guidance provided in this letter.

  • General Training Guidelines are at encl (1). Guidelines are arranged in sections by general topic or type training for your quick reference. This section includes procedural changes for submitting for 1999 summer training. The most significant of these changes is that the NSC Form 22 (Rev 2/98) goes to the COTC with a $50.00 deposit unless otherwise directed in encl (3). The COTC address has been included in the summer training schedule at encl (3). All hands must review this section in its' entirety, and pay particular attention to those sections relevant to their training.

    • Some training evolutions require payment in full with the NSC-22 submission to the COTC. They include:

      • Recruit training at Ft. Lewis
      • Recruit training at Camp Stewart
      • MAA training at NAVSTA Everett

    • Coast Guard Training opportunities are at end (2). Specific guidelines for arranging this training are provided.

    • The traditional NSCC/NLCC training schedule is at encl (3).

2. Enclosure (3) provides dates and locations for NSCC Recruit Training, NLCC Orientation, and Foreign Exchange programs, together with advanced training opportunities which have been scheduled to date. Shipboard training opportunities will be separately promulgated when they become available; we are targeting May. As we receive additional information or additional opportunities, we will update enclosure (3) with changes and include additional guidelines as they might develop. Unit commanding officers are strongly encouraged to review references (a) and (b), and to comply with the instructions contained therein in preparation for summer training.

3. Every effort is being made to obtain confirmation for those training sites or details listed as "Pending." As confirmation/availability is obtained, NHQ will distribute required information to the field. DO NOT submit NSC-22's for TWT's listed as "Pending." Wait until they are confirmed.

4. Unit CO's are reminded that following training, COTC's will be directed to submit NSC-26's back to unit CO's with a copy to Regional Directors. Your success in preparing cadets for summer training is going to be incorporated into future inspections. Your formula for success is to simply follow the instructions and guidelines as promulgated.

5. This letter along with updates promulgated as changes to this letter will also be posted on the 1-MC and Sea Cadet resources web page; www.seacadets.org/resources. This information letter is canceled effective 30 September 1999.
