NSCC ACTION LETTER 03-04

1. Purpose. To announce a new NSCC Uniform Manual.

2. Background. The Secretary of the Navy has authorized members of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps to wear an 'appropriately modified' U.S. Navy uniform while performing duties as a member of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps.  Reference (a) confirms this authorization in addition to outlining duties and responsibilities of the Navy in supporting the NSCC.

3. Discussion. The new NSCC Uniform Manual is forwarded as enclosure (1).  It should be read in its entirety since it contains many new requirements not found in previous editions.  The NSCC Manual is based on the provisions of the U.S. Navy Uniform Regulations, which may be found and accessed on the Internet.  The NSCC Uniform Manual does not provide information on all the uniforms authorized in the U.S. Navy.  The reason is NSCC members are not required to have all the uniforms required by the U.S. Navy.  Accordingly, if the NSCC uniform is not contained in enclosure (1), it is not authorized.  .

4. Action. The new NSCC Uniform Manual is effective this date.  All unit personnel should be advised of the new manual and its contents.  Please replace/insert pages 3/4, 37/38 and 49/50 which had minor changes since originally printed.

5. Cancellation. This notice remains in effect until superceded.
