6 August 2001 NSCC ACTION LETTER 8-01
|
||||
1. Enclosure (1) is provided for information and use in publicizing September 2001 as Naval Sea Cadet Corps Month. 10 September 2001 marks the thirty-ninth year of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps. 2. Each commanding officer is requested to contact the sponsoring Navy League Council, or other sponsoring organization, and volunteer to participate in special NLUS/organizational activities during September. Suggested activities include use of a NSCC Color Guard for opening ceremonies; commanding officer and/or cadets' speaking to the council about NSCC activities, particularly summer training; joint awards/recognition ceremonies; drill team demonstration; inviting NLUS members as special guests for Flagship; special proclamation ceremonies; showing the NSCC Promotional Video to school/civic/community groups, etc. NLUS Councils have been furnished more detailed information and ideas to assist in planning efforts for NSCC/Youth Month. 3. Designation of September as Naval Sea Cadet Corps Month presents a unique opportunity for Sea Cadets and sponsoring organizations to publicize the NSCC/NLCC program and commemorate the formal establishment and chartering of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps thirty-nine years ago. 4. Use this opportunity to do something extraordinary for your unit and the NSCC! Units sponsored by an organization other than a NLUS Council should contact the sponsor and bring this to the attention of senior officials. Regional Directors should contact NLUS Councils in their region not currently sponsoring a NSCC/NLCC unit, explain the benefits of sponsoring a NSCC unit, and officer any possible assistance with the formation process. 5. This action letter is cancelled 31 December 2001.
