13 May 2001 NSCC ACTION LETTER 03-01
1. Purpose: This Action Letter announces time schedules for submitting nominations for subject Award. 2. Background. The board of Directors established subject Award and encourages periodic submissions using the following guidelines: Candidates for this recognition must be founders of NSCC, or NSCC volunteers, who have provided noteworthy leadership deserving National recognition over a substantial period of time. While the time limit is generally thought as 15 years or more, no firm time limit is described to allow for inclusion of exceptional cases. 3. Discussion: Nominations for subject award must be sent to NHQ for review by a committee comprised of the NSCC National Chairman, NSCC National President, and one or more NSCC National Vice Presidents as appointed by the National Chairman. Recommendations deemed worthy by this committee will be presented at the NSCC Board meeting for authorization of the award by that body. Nominations may be submitted by any member of the Navy League of the United States or Naval Sea Cadet family. Nominations must be in writing, must document the exemplary contributions that merit the award. Nominations must list all previous awards received from the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, the time the recommendation individual has/had been associated with NSCC and an outline of the various capacities. 4. Action. For 2001, nominations must be sent in time to be received at NHQ no later than 1 September 2001. For subsequent years, nominations must be received at NHQ no later than 1 May, or until superceded by change in the NSCC/NLCC Awards Manual. 5. Cancellation. This letter is canceled when changes are made to the NSCC/NLCC Awards Manual.
