(c) NSCC Formation Manual; Qualifying Physical Examiniation
(d) CIGNA Accident Insurance
Policy (SPS 041942) |
1. Purpose: To announce the immediate
cancellation of the requirement for Officer or Midshipman applicants to provide a personal
medical history or have a medical examination to affiliate with the Naval Sea cadet Corps.
2. Discussion: The requirement of a medical
examination for our adult volunteers has been an additional hardship and cost levied
against those individuals who are vital to our program. Adults participate as instructors
and escorts and do not necessarily take part in the rigorous PT expected of our cadets.
Additionally, NSCC adults generally do not aspire to a Navy career as do cadets, and will
not need to meet Military Entrance Processing Station requirements, Our medical insurance
policy no longer covers illnesses and now covers accidents only.
3. Action:
- Please mark through and delete these requirements in the NSCC
Regulations and manuals listed as references (a) through (c); note cancellation date
therein.
- Effective immediately NSC-5A and NSC-5B forms will no longer he required when applying for
enrollment or renewal of enrollment for ADULTS. All pending applications for enrollment
where thsse forms were the only missing requirement will he removed from pending and
processed.
- This does not cancel the requirements for weight standards in regards
to wearing of the modified U.S. Navy officer uniform.
- This does not cancel the requirement of a medical history and medical
examination for cadets.
4. Cancellation: This action letter is
cancelled when required actions havs been completed and Offiicer/Midshipman Medical
History and Medical Examination Requirements have been removed from refs. (a) through (d).
